[cross-stitching] Teal Deer

Finished and hung:

TL;DR Teal Deer

TL; DR that I charted and stitched. A white plaster deer head that I pained teal.

I think I'd like to stitch more internet slang / acronyms and hang them all up around this. kthxbye. OMGWTFBBQ. U WOT M8?  NSFW? NSFL! GTFO. I like the juxtaposition of online text in an old fashioned medium.

Tuesday

[cross-stitching] New for the bathroom

Finally finished and hanging in the downstairs half-bath:

New x-stitch for the bathroom

I've had this done for a while, I only needed to add the fly and dotted trail.

I charted this myself on graph paper, which you can probably tell. The words aren't centered (I added a couple flowers to fill up some of the empty space) and the A and V in 'have' shouldn't be so close together. I've gotta get some cross-stitch charting software.

Wednesday

[cross-stitching] Biscornu

Finished the biscornu pincushion:

Biscornu

The pattern is a Traditional Bulgarian Motif from this tutorial. I added a green seed bead to all the corners.

Biscornu

It's not very big. The colors here are more accurate to real life:

The little bee button in the middle is adorable. I dug through my leftover button box and found a couple left over from baby booties that I made a few years ago.

I definitely want to make another. There are lots of free biscornu charts available online.

[cross-stitching] Biscornu

Finished both halves of a cross-stitched biscornu:

Just need to sew them together. I plan on adding beads at the corners. Should be a cute little pincushion when it's complete!

Thursday

[cross-stitching] Go INSANE

I finished a cross-stitch project, FINALLY:

X-stitch Ke$ha

The pattern is from Subversive Cross Stitch. I used glittery sewing thread (double-stranded) to do all the glitter stitches.

X-stitch Ke$ha

I pressed the finished cloth onto a 5" x 7" self-adhesive mounting board (they have these at Joanns, with the cross-stitch stuff), which makes it nicer to frame AND tacs down all those loose ends in the back. Then I popped it into a 5" x 7" frame. I took the glass out because it was reflecting and detracting from the overall message of the piece- GO INSANE.

[cross-stitch] Go insane

More cross-stitch:

X-stitch

Yes, these are Ke$ha lyrics. Yes, those are instructions that I give myself daily. Yes, I am insane and covered in glitter.

The pattern is from Subversive Cross Stitch. I'm having a hard time finishing up all the glitter. You'd think that cross-stitching glitter would be fun, but it's growing tedious.

X-stitch

I am using multi-colored metallic thread (doubled) to get lots of different colored glitter, but without having to use 5 - 10 different colors of thread. I want to finish this up so I can start Nyan Cat. I tried explaining Nyan Cat to Dollar: "It's the cat with a Pop-Tart body flying through space, leaving a rainbow trail." His reaction: "Bwuh?" My response: "HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW THIS?!"

Wednesday

[cross-stitch] QR Code

Subversive Cross Stitch had a nice sale (she often has nice sales) and I purchased two patterns. This QR code is one of them:

QR code

Yay, this is my first cross-stitch ever! It's only about 3.5 inches x 3.5 inches, so it's coaster-sized. I'd love to get a set of 4 coasters that you can put your own pictures inside of, and put in this cross stitch instead. I'd like a set of 4 of these- maybe each with a different message.

The irony here is that I don't have a smart phone and I have no way of reading this code to get the message. But I brought the finished piece in to work and had a co-worker read it with his phone. And he laughed his ass off, so I guess I stitched it right.

I love all those little x'es.
