My color palette is limited and I'm only using single-ply worsted-weight yarns from my stash. So far, this is only through Round 3. I'll get back to this project after I finish the Sock Madness socks I'm working on.

[knitting] Aran Afghan Square #12
The last square I've finished:

I'm in the middle of some socks at the moment, but then I'll go back to making the last three squares for the afghan. Then it will be hours and hours and hours of sewing.

[knitting] Aran afghan square #10
Continuing to plug away at squares for the Great American Aran Afghan.

I think I have enough yarn for 16 squares total, sewn together. I would have to buy more for a garter-stitch border but it's okay if the dye-lot is different for that; I just want to be able to complete the main body with all the same yarn and dye-lot. That should make a nice, square lap blanket.

[knitting] 50 Shades of Bacon
I wanted to knit a small modular blanket for one of my cats. At the craft store, I saw a big bin of 1lb bags for yarn for $8. I had a 50% off coupon, so I only paid $4. As I worked with it, the colors ranged from uncooked bacon to cooked bacon to old, oxidized bacon. I guess I was thinking a lot about bacon.
60 stitch modular blocks on US 8 needles, finished with a log cabin border.
Man, it's a good thing I only paid $4 for 1lb of this no-name mystery acrylic which only said "Made in Turkey" on the plastic bag. There were a few lengthy stretches of pure-white albino yarn (obviously mistakes) that I had to cut out. Knots in the yarn. Etc. Only ended up using about 12 oz (3 balls) for this blanket.
Still, it's a squishy blanket with nice drape. The cats do like it.

[knitting] Sadie's Blanket
Not bad for 11 days of knitting:
Yarn: Joann Sensations Little Treat. 3 balls.
Needle: US 7
Pattern: No real pattern, just basic mitered squares. 80 stitches each. Added garter stitch border at the end.
I'll have to make another for the cats. They were SUPER into this blanket as I was making it- really, really, really wanting to kneed it.

[knitting] Mitered Baby Blanket
Here's the baby blanket I'm currently working on:
Penny!!
Okay, here it is:
I'm doing this the same way that I made my mitered cowl. The yarn is Jo-ann Sensations Little Treat. It has long lengths of color, so I thought large mitered squares would be best.
Each square is 80 stitches at the beginning, decreasing two stitches every other row, ending up around 12 inches x 12 inches. I'm still debating whether to make this 3 x 3 squares or 3 x 4 squares. I will probably have to add a few rows of garter stitch (log-cabin style) all around the outside, to pull it together and make the edges look tidy.
Because this is no-sew, the project is gets heavier and more unwieldy the larger it gets. Probably wouldn't want to use this method for a regular-sized bedspread, but for a small baby blanket (and for someone who hates sewing in ends), it's nice to only have ends where you join new balls of yarn.
